Asake’s N300,000 Regular Standing Tickets: Sense or Nonsense?

Since the ticket prices for Asake’s December 2025 concert were announced a few days ago, there has been a lot of debate and mixed reactions.

The relatively high base cost of ₦300,000, plus an additional ₦12,000 convenience fee, makes this one of the most expensive tickets of its calibre, and some fans are not having it.

WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU PAYING FOR?

There is a simple rule: the more available something is, the less you can charge for it.

Asake, since leaving YBNL and amid his alleged fallout with Olamide, has not performed in Nigeria. In fact, his last major headline show in the country was January 1, 2024, when he performed at Asake Live In Concert.” His last major appearance was at the “A Night With D’General” concert in February 2024.

With that level of scarcity, his value has shot through the roof, and as the industry landlord he is often called, the demand for his shows has only intensified.

HOW DOES THE TICKET PRICE COMPARE?

In the Nigerian market, this is easily one of the highest ticket prices for what is considered regular VIP in this part of the world. However, when compared to the cost of attending his shows abroad, the pricing starts to make more sense.

At Asake’s recent Red Bull Symphonic Concert in Brooklyn, New York, ticket prices ranged from 139 dollars to 609 dollars, equivalent to roughly ₦207,000 to ₦908,000.

For his 2024 London O2 Arena concert, standing tickets went for about 96 pounds, which was approximately ₦182,400 at the time.

So, while ₦300,000 feels steep locally, it still sits within the global bracket of what international audiences pay to see him live.

THE FLYTIME FACTOR

With the large influx of tourists expected to storm Nigeria in the coming weeks, it is clear that the Flytime Fest organisers have them in mind. They are positioning the concert as a premium experience, and just like the Yoruba adage says, “obe to dun, owo lo pa,” meaning good soup costs money.

WHY IS IT REALLY EXPENSIVE?

When you factor in the 2025 booking rates of top-tier artistes, especially premium acts like Asake, you begin to understand why the cost is high. Production quality, international standard staging, guest performers, security, logistics, and the artiste’s own fee all contribute to the final ticket cost.

In the end, Asake’s scarcity, global demand, and premium branding are combining to create a price tag that has everyone talking.

For those who cannot afford the current ticket price, keep your fingers crossed because Asake might just announce another more affordable concert, similar to what he did after his 2023 show.
